FAQs

Lash Extensions

  • Lash extensions are synthetic fibres that are applied to your natural lashes to enhance their length, thickness, and curl. Different techniques and styles are offered here at J’Adore Tes Cils. Click here for more info.

  • Lash extensions can typically last over 4 weeks, depending on the individual's lash growth cycle and aftercare routine.

  • Although lash extensions can last for over 4 weeks, a refill is required between 2-3 weeks to maintain the health of your natural lashes and the fullness of the lash extensions.

  • When applied correctly by a trained professional, lash extensions should not damage your natural lashes. However, it's also important to follow proper aftercare instructions to prevent avoidable damage.

  • It's generally not recommended to wear mascara on lash extensions as it can cause clumping and potentially damage the extensions. However, there are some oil-free and lash extension-safe mascaras on the market that may be used sparingly on the tips of the lashes, if desired. If you choose to wear mascara, remember to gently and thoroughly remove it at the end of the day.

  • Yes, the use of a lash growth serum is accepted while having lash extensions on. It is even recommended for those with short, frail lashes who wish to eventually go longer and/or thicker with their extensions.

  • Proper care for lash extensions includes avoiding oil-based products, using a lash extension-friendly cleanser, brushing them with a clean spoolie, and avoiding excessive rubbing or pulling on your lashes. More details on proper aftercare can be found here.

  • Yes, contrary to popular belief, you can swim and shower with lash extensions. Not getting them wet is dated news. Don’t be afraid to get them wet and wash them too!

  • The application process can take 2 to 3 hours, depending on the type of set you’re getting and the natural lash line we’re working with. For more information on the time allotted to services, click here.

  • Yes, you can still wear eye makeup with lash extensions, but it's important to avoid oil-based and waxy products to prevent lifting of the extensions. Use a gentle touch when removing makeup to avoid damaging the extensions but be thorough with the cleansing to ensure your lash line stays hygienic.

  • The right length, curl and thickness of lash extensions can be determined during your consultation. We take into account your natural lashes, eye shape, and desired look when selecting each component. Don’t hesitate to show us inspiration photos of the look you wish to achieve if needed!

  • It's best to consult with your lash artist and disclose any allergies or sensitivity you may have to determine if lash extensions are suitable for you. Patch tests may also be done to check for any adverse reactions if you might have experienced some in the past.

  • Yes, you can still get extensions while pregnant. It would be more a question of comfort as you will need to lie still for the duration of the appointment.

Lash Lifts

  • A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that lifts the natural lashes from the base, giving them a more curled appearance. An added tint can also give the illusion of length by darkening the lashes from root to tip.

  • During a lash lift, the lashes are carefully molded onto a silicone shield which will provide the base for a new shape. We then use a series of chemical solutions to break down the bonds of the hairs, which forces the lashes to abandon their current structure and then we set them to secure the new curl.

  • A lash lift typically lasts for 6-8 weeks, depending on the individual's lash growth cycle and aftercare routine.

  • Lash lifts are generally suitable for most lash types, especially straight, and downward-facing lashes. Unfortunately, very short lashes are not suitable for a lash lift treatment due to lack of length to pull onto the shield.

  • Lash lifts are not painful or uncomfortable. Most clients fall asleep during the service. However, if you experience any kind of discomfort during a lash service, it's important to communicate this with your lash artist.

  • Yes, you can wear mascara after getting a lash lift. We recommend to use a water-based formula for easy take off. Waterproof mascaras can be tough to remove and in turn may damage your lashes if removed roughly.

  • Yes, the use of a lash growth serum is actually encouraged while the lashes are lifted. We even recommend the use of a lash growth serum before the appointment to maximize results. If you have short, frail lashes, this can help prepare your lashes for a more impactful, visible lift.

  • After a lash lift, it's important to keep the lashes intact for the first 24 hours. This means avoid getting them wet, avoid sleeping on them and avoid rubbing them. You can brush them upwards to maintain and support the lift as they finish setting. And most importantly, use a lash conditioner to keep them hydrated and supple. • Yes, you can still wear eye makeup after getting a lash lift, but it's important to be gentle when removing makeup to avoid damaging the lifted lashes.

  • We suggest waiting until all your lashes have shed naturally and regrown back to their original baseline. This can take 6-8 weeks or more, depending on the individual’s cycle and aftercare routine.

  • The recommendation when it comes to any perming service is s similar to colouring/dyeing the hair. Due to a lack of study on the evidence on the effects of the treatment, the service would be at your own risk.

Brow Laminations

  • A brow lamination is a semi-permanent treatment that involves reshaping and setting the brow hairs in a more uniform and upward direction, giving them a fuller, more defined and groomed appearance.

  • During a brow lamination treatment, a series of chemical solutions are applied to the brow hairs to soften and reshape them while brushing the hairs upwards in the desired direction. We then follow with a setting solution to rebuild the bonds of the hairs and secure the brows in their new position.

  • Brow lamination typically lasts for 6-8 weeks, depending on the individual's brow hair growth cycle and aftercare routine.

  • Brow laminations are generally suitable for most brow types, especially thin, sparse, and unruly brows. Hairs that are naturally raised, downward facing and stubborn may require a little more effort to maintain. However, it's important to consult with a trained brow artist to determine if it's suitable for your specific brows.

  • Brow laminations are not painful, although it is normal for some individuals to experience a slight tingling or itching sensation from the chemical solutions. The feeling eventually passes.

  • After a brow lamination, it's important to keep the brow area intact for the first 24 hours. This means avoid getting them wet, avoid sleeping on them and avoid rubbing them. You can brush them upwards to maintain and support the shape if ever you accidentally touched them. And most importantly, use a conditioner to keep the brow hairs hydrated and supple. We also recommend the use of a brow gel or pomade to maintain the slicked lamination effect. For further aftercare instructions, click here.

  • Yes, you can still fill in your brows after a brow lamination if needed. We even recommend the use of a brow gel or pomade to maintain the laminated look.

  • Brow laminations typically lasts for 6-8 weeks, so you may repeat the brow lamination treatment after the 8-week mark. Please note that this timeframe will depend on the individual’s brow hair growth cycle and aftercare routine.

  • The recommendation when it comes to any perming service is s similar to colouring/dyeing the hair. Due to a lack of study on the evidence on the effects of the treatment, the service would be at your own risk.
